Some days we experience flow and we end in Programming Nirvana. On (most?) other days we feel Programmer’s Hell. I’m not talking about things that you can’t fix, but about those administrative click-clack-click-clack (repeat 100 times) days.

Here’s where Viewnify comes to the rescue!

First the good news: a new release is on its way. No big changes, but some interesting extra features requested by users and some bug fixes.

But this post is a little warning for all Notes 7.0 to 7.0.2 users out there: Claude Sammut informed me about a bug in the tool: in short, after running Viewnify, opening a view in designer and saving it, the view selection formula can get corrupted: the selection formula changes to the formula of the last column of the view.

At first I thought it was a general DXL problem and I tried to create my own fix, but, to my relief, it’s a bug in the Domino DXL engine that was introduced in 7.0 and fixed in 7.0.3. I did a test yesterday and, indeed, after upgrading to 7.0.3 Viewnification seems like a smooth process once again.

Also, I found this confirmation in the fix list for 7.0.3: SPR# STOI6REJ7E - View selection formula used to get copied over by the column formula on import of a view. Fixed the problem reported by setting a correct flag.

Here’s some explanation on the bug, and here you can download the 7.0.3 upgrade.

Viewnify version 0.4

You know how it is to develop stuff that is only seen by a couple of people, right? To create things that are very specific to one company? And you too must have felt the urge to create reusable solutions that can be useful for a lot of customers or developers?
